Who We Are

Uniting Garden Homes Inc. is a neighborhood organization that supports residents and stakeholders in building a prosperous community. We help people learn the importance of a healthy community, where people are proud to participate in local events and activities, through different partnerships.

Our Programs

Beautification

Youth and adults are hired as artist-designers and landscapers in our program to assist with Housing Beautification. We have worked with a local developer on rehabbing 25 homes.
If your business or property needs some sprucing up, feel free to reach out to us for help from our program. We would gladly assist you with anything you need.

Housing

This program focuses on meeting the housing needs of individuals and families who are living in the area. We work to improve the creation, retention, and maintenance of affordable housing in our community.

Health and Wellness

We want our community to have healthy residents. Because of this, we developed an initiative that allows local individuals and families to access the following:

  • Gardening Activities
  • Mental Health Support
  • Health Screening
  • Affordable Healthcare Services
  • Fitness Activities

Education and Recreation

In collaboration with our partners, we provide environmental programs to create educational and recreational opportunities in our community. We focus on engaging the mental and physical capacity of a person as a whole through activities that promote the use of creativity and critical thinking. These initiatives include:

  • Sports
  • Gardening
  • Academic Support
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Tutoring

Community Safety / Workforce

We have established a partnership with the Office of Violence Prevention to implement a multi-disciplinary take around the Cure Violence model called 414Life. This public health program approach asserts that interpersonal violence can be prevented, and antisocial behaviors can be unlearned through comprehensive methods to help solve the problem.

The concept emphasizes violence prevention through the following three-step process:

  • Identification and Detection
  • Interruption, Intervention, and Risk Reduction
  • Changing Behaviors and Norms

Our Community Safety Program is carried out by a team of 10 individuals who have been trained to assist and enhance safety in our neighborhood. Contact us for more information about the 414 Life Violence Prevention Program.

We collaborate with businesses, organizations, agencies, and schools to create career opportunities for the residents of our community. Our goal is to connect residents to sustainable jobs and offer employability skill training to help in the following aspects:

  • Communication Skills
  • Problem-Solving Abilities
  • Resume Building
  • Job Searching
